DESCRIPTION:Location: El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space PreserveDate: May 9\, 2026Time: 10:30am – 1pm \nAbout the hike \n\nThe hike to the tree is only a half mile. But we will go as far as the group and time allow\nEasy\, lush forest\nRestrooms at the start\nMen are welcome on the hike as guests of women’s group participants\n\nWhat to bring \n\nWater\nAround 95% of the hike is in the shade. As always\, it is good to have a hat\, sunglasses\, and sunscreen.\n\nMeeting location \n\nWe will meet in the parking lot near the restroom\nIf you are interested in carpooling\, you can mark that on the form\n\nParking instructions: \nThere is a free dirt parking lot; if it is full\, there is limited roadside parking available. \nParking is on Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) at the El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve parking lot\, located on the west side of Skyline Blvd 16040 CA-35\, Redwood City\, CA 94062. \nDirections: \n\nFrom San Mateo / Highway 92:\n\nTake Highway 92 West toward Half Moon Bay.\nTurn left (South) onto Skyline Blvd (Highway 35).\nDrive south for approximately 8.5 miles.\nThe parking area will be on your right.\n\n\nFrom Woodside / Highway 84:\n\nTake Highway 84 (La Honda Road) West from Woodside.\nTurn right (North) onto Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) at Sky Londa.\nDrive north for about 2.7 miles.\nThe parking lot will be on your left.\n\n\nFrom Palo Alto:\n\nStart: Head west on Page Mill Road.\nMerge: Take I-280 North toward San Francisco.\nExit: Take Exit 24 for Sand Hill Road toward Woodside.\nTurn: Left onto Sand Hill Road\, then right onto Portola Road.\nMerge: Turn left onto CA-84 West (La Honda Road).\nAscend: Follow CA-84 up the hill to Sky Londa (the 4-way stop at Alice’s Restaurant).\nFinal Turn: Turn right (North) onto Skyline Blvd (Highway 35).\nArrival: Drive 2.7 miles; the parking lot (16040 CA-35) will be on your left.
