Baylands Nature Preserve

July 11 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Baylands Athletic Center
Date: July 11, 2026
Time: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Trail Breakdown (3.5 Miles)

  • Start Point: Park at the Byxbee Park/Baylands Athletic Center lot on Embarcadero Road.
  • Miles 0.0 – 0.7: Head northeast along the Adobe Creek Loop Trail. This flat, gravel trail follows the waterway and brings you alongside the park’s conceptual art, including the “Pole Field” where wooden poles double as bird perches.
  • Miles 0.7 – 2.0: Continue on the trail as it traces Mayfield Slough, offering sweeping views of the marshes and the Palo Alto Airport.
  • Miles 2.0 – 2.8: Connect to the Byxbee Hill trails. These elevated, rolling, decomposed granite pathways ascend the art hills. They offer fantastic panoramic views of the bay and local wildlife.
  • Miles 2.8 – 3.5: Descend the hills and follow the connector trails (or paved sidewalks adjacent to the Regional Water Quality Control Plant) back to the Embarcadero Road parking area.

Meet at the Baylands Athletic Center at 10:30. Restrooms and drinking fountains are available at the main parking lot.

What to Bring: Layered clothing and a hat that will not blow off — it can get windy.
