The Tim Griffith Foundation was started in honor of a young man, who had addiction issues and was murdered in 2004. His family wanted his life and his spirit to be remembered for the kind soul that he was. They describe Tim as a caring and fun-loving young man and that his death shattered their world. Over the past 19 years, the foundation works to help those that struggle or have been forgotten by the larger society. Tim struggled with addiction issues when he was younger and we wanted to support young men that were in need of assistance. We opened Tim’s House in 2008. It is a clean and sober living home in Redwood City for young men. Over 100 young men have been helped and have been provided a safe place to live over the past 15 years. In an effort to help vulnerable students attend college, they have provided scholarships and stipends. Many of their students come from high-risk backgrounds, families with gang affiliations, and poverty. They provide them with scholarships to support their college dreams. The hope is that this foundation will help keep them from entering lives of violence, addiction, and suffering and give them the tools to pursue their dreams.
