George Mark Children’s House (GMCH) is a pioneering pediatric palliative care facility located in San Leandro and serving the wider Bay Area and beyond. Established in 2004, it was the first freestanding pediatric palliative care center in the United States. GMCH provides comprehensive, compassionate care for children, adolescents, and young adults with life-limiting medical conditions—serving individuals from infancy up to age 25—and their families.
The organization offers services such as transitional, respite, cancer, and end-of-life care in a nurturing, home-like environment. With an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, and therapists, GMCH focuses on enhancing quality of life, providing emotional and spiritual support, and helping families create meaningful memories.
